End User License Agreement
Effective June 2026. This Agreement is between you and Sumhouse, operated by Bradley K. Novosad (“Sumhouse,” “we,” or “us”). By installing or using the Sumhouse application (the “Software”) you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
1. The license
Sumhouse is licensed, not sold. Upon purchase you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Sumhouse on up to three (3) Mac computers that you own or control, for personal or internal business use. The 14-day trial grants the same rights, time-limited, without payment.
2. Ownership
We and our licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual-property rights and the “Sumhouse” name and logo. This Agreement grants you a license to use the Software only; it transfers no ownership and grants no rights in our trademarks. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. What you may not do
You may not redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense, or publicly host the app or your license key; reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the software except where law permits despite this restriction; remove proprietary notices; or use the software to provide a service to third parties or to build a competing product.
4. Your data is yours
All data you import into or create with Sumhouse is yours alone. It is stored encrypted on your device; we take no license to it, receive no copy of it, and take no responsibility for your backups of it. If you lose your passphrase, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your passphrase and maintaining backups.
5. Network use
The Software runs locally and makes only two outbound requests: a one-time license validation when you activate a key, and a check for updates that runs only at your request. See the Privacy Policy.
6. Updates
Your license includes app updates made available for the purchased major version. Updates are fetched only at your manual request and may add, change, or remove features. We are not obligated to provide updates, support, or future-macOS compatibility.
7. No warranty
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Sumhouse is a record-keeping and analysis tool; it is not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice, and you remain responsible for verifying figures against your bank's records.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of this agreement or the software is limited to the amount you paid for the license. In no event will we be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or savings.
9. Termination
This license ends automatically if you breach it. Upon termination you must stop using the software; sections 2, 4, 7, and 8 survive. Your local data remains yours.
10. Payments & refunds
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record and are subject to the refund policy.
11. Third-party components
The Software includes third-party open-source components (for example, the PDFium library) that remain subject to their own licenses. Those licenses are not diminished by this Agreement.
12. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
